The Spread of Gay Marriage

Homosexuality is sin and supporting gay marriage leads to it's spread throughout the world.  This week we saw this first hand with the influence of other nations on President Obama and next will be the influence of his support of gay marriage on the state governments and public opinion. 

This spread reminds me of Proverbs 4:14-19, especially the part about not sleeping until someone else joins in their ways and not knowing over what they stumble. Do not enter the path of the wicked And do not proceed in the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not pass by it; Turn away from it and pass on. For they cannot sleep unless they do evil; And they are robbed of sleep unless they make someone stumble.  For they eat the bread of wickedness And drink the wine of violence.   But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, That shines brighter and brighter until the full day.  The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know over what they stumble.   

As Christians, we may be disappointed with Obama's decisions, but we must not hate him or forget our duty to pray for him ( 1 Timothy 2:1-2).  Nor should we forget that even though President Obama is among the most powerful men on earth, he still answers to God.

I am not surprised when our current president makes such statements. He is just being consistent. It is who he is.

Sadly, I am also not surprised when I hear people who call themselves Christians say the same types of things. Much of the visible church has given up the word as their source of authority. They need to read Romans 12:1-2 and meditate on it.

Great passage Pumice! The world is working overtime for us to conform on this one.

Hodge on Ephesians 1:17-19

Hodge argues for effectual calling based on Ephesians 1:17-19. He claims that the passage teaches the regeneration is monergistic , so it proves God's call is effectual. Calvinism’s problems with Total Depravity

This post will be an attempt to add some detail to earlier comments about problems reconciling Calvinism and total depravity, using John Hendryx post as an example ( here ). To my knowledge, it’s a new argument against Calvinism. Most Arminians are quick to agree with Calvinists on total depravity to avoid being called semi-Pelagian. However, this in my opinion is a mistake, not because Arminians disagree with total depravity, but because Calvinists have some definitional and consistency problems with affirming total depravity.
